The artist earned his MFA in sculpture at Winthrop University and worked as a graphic designer for 16 years. He currently teaches design and sculpture at Lander University. McAbee’s imaginative drawings and cartoonish steel sculptures anthropomorphize objects and animals, combining them with bright colors and glossy finishes that allow viewers to freely interpret their meaning. McAbee’s work has been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions.
